Parliament of Botswana in collaboration with UN Women, and UNICEF gathered at Cresta Lodge on the 27 th November 2018, for Gender Advocacy Breakfast for Botswana Parliamentarians to discuss the Gender Based Violence(GBV) and HIV Prevention and response amongst women and girls, under the theme “Orange the world: #HearMeToo”-End Violence against women and children.

For his welcoming remarks, The acting Speaker Honorable Kagiso Molatlhegi emphasized that the theme #HearMeToo aims to honour and further amplify voices of GBV victims everywhere, whether it is a housewife at home abused by her husband, a schoolgirl abused by her teacher, an office secretary abused by her boss, a sportswoman abused by her coach, or a boy who is an intern in a business abused by her female boss- through this theme. He said It is a call to listen to and believe survivors, to end this barbaric act and bring to the forefront the voices of women and girls who have survived violence.He further noted that the Parliament will remain resolute within its mandate to contribute towards GBV prevention and response.
