The Chairman of Ntlo Dikgosi, Kgosi Malope II received The United Kingdom Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Africa Lord Collins of Highbury yesterday in a courtesy call.
In his introductory speech, Kgosi Malope II thanked the United Kingdom for the existing bilateral relations they have with Botswana, emphasizing that despite being newly elected Chairperson of NYD, he is very much aware of the relations of the UK and Botswana.
Lord Collins congratulated Kgosi Malope II for being elected the Chairperson of Ntlo ya Dikgosi and wished him well in his new position. He also expressed the admiration of Botswanaβs democracy. Lord Collins further highlighted on the need to strengthen bilateral relations and build strong partnerships.
The Chairperson Kgosi Malope II underscored the role played by Ntlo Ya Dikgosi in the legislative process. He further requested to strengthen the relations with the Britain and strong partnership with the House of Lords. Furthermore, he explained the need for capacity building for Members of House and staff. The Chairperson also stressed on the need for skills exchange between Ntlo ya Dikgosi and House of Lords to appreciate best practices that focus on rules of procedure and activities by Members of the House.
