MINISTRY OF FINANCE APPEARED BEFORE GOVERNMENT ASSURANCES COMMITTEE The Ministry of Finance appeared before Parliament's Standing Committee on Government Assurances to account for ministerial commitments arising from questions by Members of Parliament and resolutions passed in Parliament between November 2019 and September 2024. The Committee examined progress on key areas including legislative reforms, GABS challenges, national employment policy, GEMVAS programme, Sovereign Wealth Fund and processing of government tenders. The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance Dr. Tshokologo Kganetsano reported that the Ministry has made progress in enacting twenty-three (23) pieces of legislation aimed at strengthening and modernizing economic governance and improving the livelihoods of Batswana. These include Public Procurement Act,2021; Retirement Funds Act, 2022; and the Banking Act,2023. The Committee’s engagement with Ministries exists to ensure that commitments made by Ministers in the Parliament are followed through and implemented for the betterment of the citizens.
